The day our fatherland drank the blood of sons and daughters.
The day our National anthem could not stop shots from brutal machines held by uniformed bodies.
The day our peaceful white turned into red; coloured with the blood of promising tomorrow.
The very day this government served the future breakfast of sorrow.
We asked for the commandant,
but, they remained adamant
looking straight into our eyes
through broadcast, they keep telling lies.
I wish they would listen to the beat our hearts play
it’s over twenty four months we should have forgotten they will say
but,
WE CAN NEVER FORGET!
The songs they sang
The bell of peace they rang
with no issue of tribe, tongue, or race
in their hearts and face.
How can we ever forget the shouts as bullets forced them to the ground?
We will never forget the fall of real heroes whose silenced voices spoke against cruelty
bad governance constituting evil ordinances
uniform brutality.
We will never forget 20. 10. 2020
A date full of zeros that gave us fallen HEROS.

A very apt poem that serves as a documentary of our history that has shaped us as a people, albeit so tragic.
This is a beautiful poem…indeed we will never forget
