Poem by JOSHUA HANIOR on love, dealing with loss and heartbreak.

Those who tasted where elated

Savouring the moment while it lasted

Behold now the piece of a broken heart

It is a lonely road

Where is my tower of refuge?

Dear love, to me be restored

It was a vapour inhaled

To the point of inebriation

Till the winds bore it away

Consumed by nostalgic reminiscence always

Yet surviving all the way

It was a phantom we called love

The earth is yet to receive our dust

The bridge is broken

The chasm swallowed our bliss

Who can take me across?

Though I brave the odds and cross

Will I still meet you?

The look in your eyes, when we held hands

Once, you called me breath

Son of my mother, behold the golden rule of

passion

Trouble not the floodgates
