A deep, sincere poem by CHARLES AKWEN about dreams and their pursuit.

The dreamer poet has regained freedom
From buried thoughts. In detached emotion
Still cannot strike a stark story of fancy.
From his packs of bruised memory,
The liberties of morning dreams knock
His actions to fulfill the plea. In silence,

He presents the past from the present,
In a bleak hope of another future, as
Shadows rest on plains without the sun.
Does he build in ghostly reveries, so?
Or do nothing in forgotten fantasies?
Does he, all in a mind of bemused biddings, bind?

He in heated emotions, and precautions,
Overcomes this repulsion to lose his mind.
He yields to wishes, unseen and unheard,
He still has an attitude of romantic verse-
Of past reminiscences, of unfamiliar quests
In a world conflicts rapidly feed our ears.

He fulfills his stored yearning, as just another
Dreamer who tells stories about many migrants
Still trapped in foreign lands. He sails through
Pillars standing high as trees by the riverbanks-
He sails still to lands moral dreams are caged
As the Island with many flowers across the strait.

The dreamer poet is himself sure to say:
I favour the retelling of many familiar stories
A tightrope walker stirring constraints of sundry
Dreamers, traversing places that exist on my mind,
Moving from point of thought, displaying robust
Anxiety, pressing onwards with a plea of rediscovery.

Some dream dreams that are sundrenched forever,
Others are the superb light in the dreams of some.
