Old School Swag

Tales upon tales,

I had heard so many. “She will be here soon,” the barman assured me, mixing another shot. I sat quietly, watching lovers across the room, each lost in their own universe. The older pair seemed frozen in eternity, their gaze locked as though no one else existed. The younger couple, the man in an Elvis Presley- style two-piece, swayed with carefree delight. His affection was written all over his smile.

Then she arrived. Hair tied loosely in buns, her presence lit up the room. The DJ, spotting her, switched to what seemed her favorite track. She claimed the floor instantly, moving with joy that commanded attention. She didn’t just follow the beat—she owned it.

Yet her beauty struck me more than her dance, surpassing every tale I’d heard.

Hours later, she slipped away into the moonlight, leaving me adrift between longing and the futility of ever reaching her.

AT THE CENTRE OF TIME

At the Center of All
‘At the Center of All’ Shot with Nikon Z50 Lens: 24 – 70 @ 56MM Aperture: F/3.2 ISO:1000 shutter speed: 1/100

This piece explores the emotional and symbolic layers of being at the center of purpose — whether behind a lens, in a classroom, on a field, or in the quiet role of support. The photo complements the tone of the story, freezing a moment that reflects introspection and presence in time.

What if I stop caring?
Perhaps I’d be somewhere behind a lens —
Capturing beautiful images and memories to last forever.

And if I picture myself as a teacher,
I would fit in for sure.
The thought of impacting students is a sweet one indeed.
Though straightening their paths may be tough…

And talking about “straightening” —
Doing that on a hair wouldn’t kill too.

Would you like to switch to mine?
Oh yes! Who wouldn’t want to enjoy the feeling?
The thought of running round a pitch,
Restoring order when there’s a little chaos.

But then again,
I think I’ll stay here —
A place where my services can help every cause.

And no, I am not God,
But even He sends His prophets to me when they are down.
