Nneka

Nneka

Talented, young artist, Chinasa Uramah, presents some of her artworks, currently on sale, in our regular art e-xhibition. Check them out!

NNEKA

Medium :       Pencil on paper

Size :              61cm x 61cm

Price :            NGN150,000

Like Mona Lisa, this piece of work begs many questions. Who is this muse called Nneka? What is she staring at? Or who is she talking to? And where is she going to dressed up so warmly? The detailing of the grooves on her inner sweater’s lining is as impressive as they are challenging to execute with precision. Quite a commendable dedication to craft. The chiaroscuro establishes the texture of her hair and coat and defines her lips, neck muscles, and coat creases. No doubt, this is stunning art and Nneka is a stunning lady. Is she by any chance the same muse in ‘Beauty Like a Flower’? Who knows? Chinasa attracts many questions with this lovely artwork and its title. She has also attracted many keen art enthusiasts and fans.

OUR EARTH AND OUR PRIDE

OUR EARTH AND OUR PRIDE

Medium :       Mixed media

– pastel & teabag on canvas-

Size :              61cm x 61cm

Price :            NGN125,000

The irony of the painting’s title is not lost on us. The broken lantern on the left represents the state of the earth damaged by pollution, global warming, environmental degradation, and abandoned. World leaders set down a bland new plastic lantern beside it as a replacement. Meanwhile, in the background, a dreary, scorched vista of the future stretches before us to the white nothingness.—This is Chinasa’s passionate but cryptic Call to Action to save the planet, executed with a peculiar medium- teabags.

HOPE

HOPE

Medium :        Charcoal pencils/acrylic on canvas

Size :              22cm x 17cm

Price :            NGN125,000

Well, what do you know? A flower blooms in the dark! Hope emerges from despair! Loving the contrast here between the grayscale backdrop and bright colours. The bold outline of leaf blades with charcoal pencils creates three-dimensionality to the artwork, invariably pushing the bright flower to the fore. Looking closely, you will observe little buds of light scattered around the canvas. This gives it more depth and emotional resonance. A lone surviving flower being cared for by the butterflies, shining brightly even in darkness, emphasizes themes of resilience, unity, and the beauty of nurturing life against all odds. It’s a story of hope, guardianship, and the triumph of light in adversity. The ‘tangibility’ of this product and the mood it evokes makes it a winner. We all need hope in these trying times and it springs eternal!

Medium :        Oil on canvas

Size :              61cm x 91cm

Price :            NGN175,000

A nymph, not a flower this time, blossoms before you! She poses with an afro-bob like a flower bud, perfect stem-like slenderness, holding her inspiration. Chinasa captures this with simple quasi-impressionistic strokes and blue.
