There I lay in my room,
Observing the manner, the conduct of my dream.
Never expecting what was to come,
Not a hint, a head-start to run.
There I lay in my room,
And from my sleep, my phone hummed.
I would have concluded it was a disturbance,
But the end defines it as deliverance.
There I lay in my room,
Like a fish innocently swimming in the pool.
Here comes the bait,
Perhaps from the devil while he waits.
To the bait, my tongue dances;
To my whole body, it’s poison.
To my phone’s beckoning, I must answer—
It’s the safe of the last hand.
When temptation stares, I don’t stare, I run.
For overconfidence in one’s strength might bring ruin.
I’d flee, no glance, no turning back.
But can I escape and keep respect intact?
